Mariinsky Palace

The Mariinsky Palace in Kyiv dates to the mid-18th century, and is the official ceremonial residence of the President of Ukraine. It is located on the right bank of the Dnipro River in Kyiv, and sits next to the neo-classical Verkhovna Rada Ukrainian Parliament building (see our model of Verkhovna Rada & build both together!)

On July 12, 1996 the ceremony of signing the Law "On the adoption of the Constitution of Ukraine" was held in Mariinsky Palace. This historic occasion cemented Ukraine's desire for democracy & freedom.

The palace was designed by the famous Italian architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli in the Baroque style and coloured in turquoise which gives it bright and ceremonial look. Constructed in 1744-1752, the palace was badly damaged during a series of fires in the early 19th century and during the Second World War. The latest reconstruction of the palace was conducted in 2003-2017 and now the Palace is open for visitors and everyone can enjoy its beauty.

During this current war, the President of Ukraine awards the most precious "Hero of Ukraine" medals to our brave fighters in the newly-renamed White Hall of Heroes of Ukraine in the Mariinsky Palace. Own this piece of Ukrainian history today!
