Verkhovna Rada Parliament Building
Verkhovna Rada Parliament Building
Start building Ukraine with the centre of its legislative power! This LEGO set has intriguing dimensions: its sits very low with amazing details such as the clear dome, rows of columns all around, and the beautiful semi-circle rotunda structure at the back.
The building is designed in a strict rectangular-symmetrical form in the neo-classical Ukrainian architectural style. It is crowned with a dome, made of metal and glass, which provides the building with natural lighting. The National Flag of Ukraine raises on the top of the dome.
The Verkhovna Rada sits on Constitution Square in Kyiv, next to the magnificent Mariinsky Palace and surrounded by the beautiful Mariinsky Park.
The construction of the building was completed in 1939 and it was used for the sessions of Verkhovna Rada of Ukrainian SSR, that was a part of the Soviet Union. In 1991, during the adoption of the Act of Independence of Ukraine, the red-and-blue Flag of the Ukrainian SSR, that had been flown on top of the dome for more than 50 years, was replaced with a blue-and-yellow Flag of Ukraine.
